Valerie Simpson and her husband, Nick Ashford, rank among the greatest songwriting teams in music history—22 gold and platinum records and more than 50 ASCAP Awards. Ms. Simpson participated in the documentary film, “Hitsville: The Making of Motown, which aired on Showtime in 2019 focusing on factors that made Motown the most successful record label of all time.
