Marilyn McLeod started at Motown as a keypunch operator, a job she took to get her foot in the door as she waited for her big break. After landing fulfilling her dream she became a prolific songwriter. She co-wrote ”Pops, We Love You”...a song for the 90th birthday party of Berry Gordy Sr, father of Motown founder, Berry Gordy, Jr.
She was honored in the Women of Motown series, presented in conjunction with Women's History Month 2021. Each day a new, original portrait was revealed from March 1 through March 31, celebrating the featured woman's contribution to Motown's success.
The portraits are now available for purchase.
